PEEKSKILL BOARD TRUSTEE RELEASES GOSPEL CD
McDonald, who sits on the Peekskill Board of Education held her album debut at the Division Street Grill on Tuesday, December 18 amongst family and friends. For McDonald, the CD is a culmination of a lifetime of singinsg and her relationship with God.
McDonald has been independently recording the CD for seven months and said it was time for her to take her music to another levels. She wrote 10 of the the 12 songs on the album.
McDonald said that all she had to do was think about God and His blessings and the words would come to her. She could feel God's presence in the recording studio, she said. The title track, Restore Me, is the most meaningful song to McDonald. I wrote the track when I was at a low time in my life, said, McDonald. "I asked God to restore me. He blesssed me. He always blessed me."
About a year ago, McDonald started attending mount Olivet Baptist church in Peekskill and found her voice again. She is currently the musical director at the church. McDonald has always felt a connection with the power and message of gospel music. "Gospel music inspires people," said McDonald. "Music is so powerful, and Gospel adds another dimension to an art form. Now that the CD is out, McDonald has high hopes for it!
